What’s up fam Seb here in Santa Monica. Let’s talk a little SEO today and I want to talk to you about something that everybody comes to me when they, when they have no idea about SEO, they just want to get started about SEO. They have an obsession with ranking for one keyword or one search phrase. Let me explain to you why that’s kind of stupid to be honest. So the only keyword or search phrase you should ever obsessed with ranking for, with being at the very top of Google for is your brand name, your company name. If you’re not coming up at the top of Google for your brand name or company name, talk to me, let’s talk about that. That’s definitely something you have to be at the top fourth, but if it’s not company or brand related, it’s not a branded search term. The reason to obsess over one keyword is wrong because what’s going to happen is you’re going to put all your efforts into one thing and to trying to rank for one keyword or search phrase, and the competition is just too high or there’s people that have just been too established on the digital platforms on, on social media, on Google, in terms of content that are causing them to rank higher.

You may never beat them out. And thus, you may think that you are a complete SEO failure, and that’s just not the way to approach SEO when it comes to ranking for keywords. The proper thing to do is really get after massive amounts of keyword research, right? So when you do the proper amounts of keyword research and look at the tens and hundreds, and even thousands of variations about what you think is the best search term or keyword phrase that you want to rank for, that’s where you’re going to come up with the right ideas and solutions of where to go in the direction of SEO, because you’re going to find out that there’s a whole different world out there, tons of other related keywords and search phrases that can have great intent, and that can do wonders for you and your website that you’re not focusing on. And you’re not creating content around because you’re just obsessed with one keyword or search brands.
